Main uses of calcite
 
1. Because of its birefringence, Iceland spar is often used as a polarizing prism. If it is cut into columns in a certain way, it can be used as a prism of a microscope to detect the optical properties of minerals.
 
 
2. Generally, calcite is used in chemical industry, cement and other industrial raw materials.
 
 
3. Calcite is used as flux in metallurgical industry and cement and lime in construction industry.






4. Plastic, paper, toothpaste and food are used as filling additives.






5. Adding calcite into glass production will make the glass translucent, especially suitable for glass lampshade.
