In order to remove sulfur dioxide from flue gas, the most commonly used desulfurizer is cheap lime, limestone and alkaline solution made up of lime agent. The desulfurizer can absorb most of the sulfur dioxide in the flue gas and fix it in the fuel residue. Chemical plants and smelters often use sodium carbonate, alkaline aluminum sulfate and other solutions as desulfurizer to treat tail gas containing sulfur dioxide, which can be desorbed and recycled.


Iron oxide desulfurizer is a kind of solid desulfurizer, which can be desulfurized with or without oxygen. The principle is to absorb the sulfur compounds in the waste gas into the pores of desulfurizer, change its chemical composition and purify the gas. When the desulfurizer reaches saturation, it no longer has desulfurizing capacity and needs to be regenerated, such as steam stripping regeneration. However, the activity of iron oxide desulfurizer will decrease continuously after long-term use. For example, if the small hole is blocked by some impurities, the desulfurizer will be deactivated. However, when there is trace oxygen in the reaction system, the desulfurizing activity can be increased and the service life can be prolonged. The active components can be recovered from the waste desulfurizer.
