Application and development status of high-purity

High purity Magnesium hydroxide is precipitated from natural brine or sea water through advanced hydrothermal synthesis technology. It is a white amorphous powder, and the aqueous solution is alkaline. Soluble in dilute acid and ammonium salt solutions, almost insoluble in water and ethanol. Easy to absorb carbon dioxide in the air, it is a commonly used material in industry, generally used for flame retardants, wastewater treatment, flue gas desulfurization, fertilizers, etc. It is an inorganic material without halogen, so it will not produce toxic gases and substances.


High purity Magnesium hydroxide has very special functions:


1. Acid relievers and permeable laxatives.


2. It is an excellent flame retardant for plastic and rubber products. As a flue gas desulfurization agent in terms of environmental protection, it can replace caustic soda and lime as a neutralizer for acidic wastewater.


3. It is a new type of filled flame retardant that releases bound water during thermal decomposition, absorbs a large amount of latent heat, and lowers the surface temperature of the composite material it fills in the flame. It has the function of inhibiting polymer decomposition and cooling the generated combustible gas.


4. It can be used as flame retardant or flame retardant filler and added to polyethylene, polypropylene, polyramine and Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, with good flame retardant and smoke suppression effects.


Advantages of Magnesium hydroxide flame retardant:


1. It is a low smoke zero halogen flame retardant material. It is non-toxic and tasteless, and does not produce toxic and corrosive gases when burning. Magnesium hydroxide will not corrode abrasives, and will not produce secondary pollution.


2. Excellent flame retardancy, smoke suppression performance, and filling function. Its physical form is granular, conducive to uniform distribution, has good compatibility with the substrate, and has little impact on the mechanical properties of the finished product. The modified Magnesium hydroxide has good dispersibility.


3. The thermal decomposition temperature of Magnesium hydroxide is up to 340 ℃, 100 ℃ higher than that of Aluminium hydroxide. Therefore, it is beneficial to increase the processing temperature of plastics, accelerate extrusion speed, enhance plasticization effect, and shorten molding time. The surface gloss of the finished product is high, so there will be no surface defects.


China began to research and develop Magnesium hydroxide technology in the 1960s, but due to various reasons, the industrialization process is very slow.
