Light burned magnesia and active magnesia are two concepts
The scientific name of MgO is magnesia, commonly known as magnesia, magnesia, magnesia. Density 2.94, light yellow or white powder. Melting point 2852 ℃, boiling point 3600 ℃. It is soluble in acids and ammonium salts, but not soluble in water and ethanol. The specific surface area is 180 m2 / g at 400 ℃. The specific surface area is only 3 m2 / g at 1300 ℃. It is easy to deliquescence in the air. It is a kind of gas hard cementitious material.
Light burned magnesia is also called caustic bitter soil, active magnesia. It is a kind of light burned magnesia obtained by calcining natural magnesite ore, brucite and magnesium hydroxide Mg (OH) 2 extracted from seawater or brine at 700 ~ 1000 ℃.
Active magnesium oxide
Molecular weight: 40.30 MgO activity refers to the ability of MgO to participate in chemical or physicochemical processes. The essence of MgO activity is the unsaturation of valence bond on the surface of immature crystal, and lattice distortion and defects aggravate the unsaturation of this bond. The difference of activity is mainly due to the size and incomplete structure of MgO. Active MgO is different from ordinary MgO in the following aspects
1) The average particle size is generally less than 2 μ m, and the micro morphology is irregular particles or near spherical particles or flake crystals; 2) it has certain activity, and its activity can be indicated by citric acid activity (CAA value) (the smaller the value, the higher the activity), and can also be shown by iodine absorption value.
Active magnesium oxide dew is placed in the air to absorb water and carbon dioxide, which reduces its activity. Sometimes it needs chemical treatment to protect it. Other properties are the same as light magnesium oxide.
