What are light and heavy powders

Magnesite can be calcined and melted at different temperatures to produce light burned magnesium, heavy burned magnesium and fused magnesia with magnesium oxide as the main component.


Magnesite calcined at 750-1100 temperature is called "light burning", and its product is called light burned magnesia powder, which is called light fired powder for short. Light calcined powder is mainly used to produce cementitious materials, building materials for heat insulation and sound insulation, and can also be used as ceramic raw materials.


Heavy fired powder is mainly prepared by water separation, hydrolysis, solid-liquid separation, drying, calcination and pulverization. The production of heavy magnesium oxide requires high quality of light burned magnesia powder. Generally, the high-grade powder produced by high-quality magnesite should not be damped and caked.
