Magnesium oxide (chemical formula: MgO) is an oxide of magnesium, an ionic compound. It is a white solid at normal temperature. Magnesium oxide exists in nature in the form of periclase, which is the raw material for magnesium smelting. Type: Light magnesium oxide and heavy magnesium oxide. Light weight, loose volume, white amorphous powder. Odorless, tasteless and nontoxic. Density 3.58 g/cm3. It is insoluble in pure water and organic solvents, and its solubility in water increases with the existence of carbon dioxide. Soluble in acid and ammonium salt solution. And is converted into crystals by high-temperature burning. When it meets carbon dioxide in the air, it generates magnesium carbonate double salt. Heavy matter is compact in volume and is white or beige powder. Easy to combine with water, easy to absorb moisture and carbon dioxide in exposed air. It is easy to gel and harden when mixed with magnesium chloride solution.
