Application of light magnesium oxide

发表时间:2021-06-08

It is widely used in the manufacture of metallurgy, smelting, high-grade magnesia brick, refractories and moisturizing materials. It is also widely used in rubber, rubber sheet, rubber products, pharmaceutical industry, food industry, accelerator for plastic sheet, plasticizer for glass fiber reinforced plastics and surface coating paint for silicon steel sheet, filler and reinforcing agent for paper production, steel ball polishing agent, leather treatment agent, insulating material, grease, dye Ceramics, desiccants, resins and flame retardants are used as fillers and reinforcers for rubber and plastic products, soft ferrite, adhesives, catalysts for chemical industry and raw materials for manufacturing other magnesium compounds, enamels, ceramics and glass.

1、 Properties of light magnesium oxide

The molecular formula of light magnesium oxide is MgO, and its relative molecular weight is 40.30. Light magnesium oxide is odorless, tasteless and nontoxic white amorphous powder. The solubility in water increases with the increase of CO2 content in water. The melting point is 2852 ℃, the boiling point is 3600 ℃, and it can be transformed into crystal after being burned at a high temperature above 1000 ℃. When the temperature rises above 1500 ℃, it becomes dead burned or sintered magnesia. Absorb carbon dioxide and water in the air to form basic magnesium carbonate.

2、 Application of light magnesium oxide

Light magnesium oxide is mainly used in the production of rubber products and chloroprene adhesive. In rubber manufacturing, magnesium oxide acts as acid absorbent and accelerator, and in chloroprene adhesive, it acts as vulcanization crosslinking agent and chelating agent with resin. MgO can reduce the sintering temperature in ceramics and enamels. In the manufacture of grinding wheel and paint, it is used as filling agent, in medicine as antacid and laxative, in the treatment of gastric acidosis, gastric and duodenal ulcer, and in food processing as whitening agent or refined decolorizing agent of granulated sugar. The biggest use in agriculture is as fertilizer and livestock feed, which is the main element in plant and animal metabolism. When used as cow feed, it can prevent nervous system dysfunction caused by magnesium deficiency. In addition, it can also be used in glass fiber reinforced plastics, dyeing chemicals, electronic industry, insulating material industry, petroleum additive, casting, phenolic plastics and other industries( Source: magnesium chemical)

3、 The difference between light magnesium oxide and heavy magnesium oxide

Properties of light magnesium oxide: light magnesium oxide is white, amorphous powder, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, specific gravity is 3.58 (25), melting point is 2852, boiling point is 3600. Uses: used in metallurgy, smelting, high-grade magnesia brick, refractory and moisturizing material manufacturing, also widely used in rubber, rubber plate, rubber products, pharmaceutical industry, food industry, plastic plate accelerator, plasticizer of glass fiber reinforced plastics and surface coating of silicon steel sheet, paint, paper production, steel ball polishing, leather treatment, insulating materials, grease, dye, ceramics, desiccant Resin, flame retardant, etc.

The main composition of heavy magnesium oxide is made by heating magnesium carbonate. There are two kinds of heavy and light magnesium oxide, generally referred to as heavy magnesium oxide. Magnesium oxide mixture: 60 g magnesium oxide and 60 g heavy magnesium carbonate. Character: white powder; Odorless, tasteless; It slowly absorbs carbon dioxide in the air. It is almost insoluble in water, insoluble in ethanol and soluble in dilute acid. Indications: the anti acid effect is stronger than sodium bicarbonate, slow and lasting, and does not produce carbon dioxide. It can react with gastric acid to produce magnesium chloride, release magnesium ions, stimulate intestinal peristalsis, and has laxative effect. It is suitable for patients with gastric acidosis, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer accompanied by constipation. For patients without constipation, its laxative effect can be corrected by taking calcium carbonate.
