The differences between magnesium and magnesium oxide are:
1. The constituent elements are different: magnesium is composed of magnesium, and magnesium oxide is composed of magnesium and oxygen.
2. Composition is different: magnesium is composed of atoms and magnesium oxide is composed of ions.
3. Different colors: magnesium is silver white and magnesium oxide is white.
4. Different chemical properties: gas (hydrogen) is generated when magnesium reacts with hydrochloric acid, and no gas is generated when magnesium oxide reacts with hydrochloric acid.
The purpose of magnesium (mg) test is to measure the content of magnesium in blood. Magnesium is an important electrolyte for muscles, nerves and enzymes to function normally. It helps the body consume energy and promotes the outward and inward flow of other electrolytes (potassium and sodium) on both sides of the cell.
