Brucite, also known as magnesium hydroxide, whose main component is magnesium hydroxide, is a mineral with the highest magnesium content found so far. The theoretical composition is 69.12% MgO and 30.88% H2O. Fe2 +, Mn2 +, Zn2 + can replace Mg2 + with isomorphic mixture, so as to form variants: brucite, brucite, brucite and brucite. Brucite belongs to the trilateral crystal system, and its crystals are often plate-shaped, fine scale-shaped, round and irregular granular aggregates; Sometimes there are parallel fibrous aggregates. This brucite is called fibrous brucite or brucite asbestos.
Brucite is a rare and precious magnesium rich non-metallic ore, and there are not many large deposits all over the world. Some large brucite deposits have been found in China. Kuandian brucite deposit in Liaoning Province has a reserve of 10 million tons, which is the largest brucite deposit found in the world. Heimulin, Shaanxi Province (reserves of 7.8 million tons), Ji'an, Jilin Province (reserves of more than 2 million tons). In addition, brucite deposits are also found in Xixia, Henan, Qilian Mountain, Qinghai and jianshibao, Sichuan. The national reserves are estimated to be about 25 million tons.
Brucite ore is widely used in fireproof coating, papermaking industry, preparation of magnesium oxide, preparation of magnesium chloride, environmental protection and other fields. The tensile strength of brucite is 902mpa, which is a medium strength fiber material. Brucite has an elastic modulus of 13800mpa and has a certain brittleness. Vickers hardness is 50.4 ~ 260.5, and has obvious anisotropy, which is easy to grind into fine-grained powder.
Wollastonite is the best alkali resistant natural inorganic fiber. However, it can be completely dissolved in strong acid, and can be dissolved at different speeds in oxalic acid, citric acid, acetic acid, mixed acid and Al (OH) 3 solution. In humid or rainy climate, brucite is easy to be eroded by CO2 and H2O in the atmosphere, so brucite products need surface treatment. Wurtzite also has the properties of flame retardant, resistance to open fire and high-temperature flame.
