Is Magnesium Oxide toxic

Toxic, if taken by mistake will cause diarrhea, dehydration. 

1. Magnesium oxide irritates the mucous membrane and causes conjunctivitis and rhinitis. After inhaling magnesium oxide dust at a concentration of 4-6 mg/m 3 for 1-2 minutes, metal fume fever may occur. The patient has fever, cough, chest pressure and increased white blood cells. 

2. If taken by mistake, it is harmful and can cause allergy. Avoid inhaling gas or dust. Use in well-ventilated places. Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing. Clean thoroughly after use and make sure the container is airtight.

 3. Skin emergency treatment, use soap and water to wash the contact area. If irritation persists, seek medical attention immediately. For emergency eye care, flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and occasionally turn up the eyelid for irrigation. 

4. If breathing is difficult, then give oxygen, ingestion processing, if there is ingestion, immediately drink into two large glasses of water, immediately induce vomiting. If the subject has lost consciousness, do not make him swallow anything again. 

5. Magnesium Oxide (chemical formula: MGO) is an oxide of magnesium, a type of ionic compound. It is a white solid at room temperature. Magnesia exists in nature in the form of periclase and is the raw material of magnesium smelting.

 6. Magnesium oxide has a high degree of fire resistance and insulation. It can be converted into crystal by high temperature burning above 1000 °C. when it rises to 1500-2000 °C, it will become dead Magnesia or sintered Magnesia.
