Magnesium hydroxide is currently recognized as a high-quality flame retardant with three functions of flame retardancy, smoke suppression and filling in the chemical industry. Its molecular formula is Mg (OH) 2, molecular weight is 58.32, white powder, non-toxic, tasteless, good stability, non-volatile, high decomposition temperature, no corrosion of machinery and equipment, etc., is the preferred material for organic polymer to achieve halogen-free flame retardancy.
When heated (340-490 degrees), magnesium hydroxide decomposes and absorbs the heat on the surface of the combustor to achieve flame retardancy; At the same time, a large amount of water is released to dilute the oxygen on the surface of the fuel, and the active magnesium oxide generated by decomposition is attached to the surface of the fuel, further preventing the combustion. In the whole flame retardant process, magnesium hydroxide not only does not produce any harmful substances, but its decomposition products can also absorb a large number of harmful gases and smoke generated by the combustion of rubber, plastics and other polymers while flame retardant. Active magnesium oxide continuously absorbs the incomplete combustion of melting residues, so as to stop the combustion quickly and eliminate smoke and prevent molten droplets. It is a new environmental friendly inorganic flame retardant.
Magnesium sulfate intravenous injection and intramuscular injection are mainly used for anticonvulsant, which can cause vasodilation and lead to blood pressure drop. Due to the central inhibitory effect of magnesium sulfate, skeletal muscle relaxation and hypotensive effect, it is mainly used in clinic to relieve eclampsia, tetanus and other convulsions, but also for the treatment of high blood pressure crisis. Adverse reactions include: excessive blood magnesium can cause respiratory depression, sudden drop in blood pressure, cardiac arrest and death. The disappearance of tendon reflexes is the precursor of respiratory depression. Therefore, tendon reflexes should be frequently checked during continuous medication. In case of poisoning, artificial respiration should be carried out immediately, and calcium chloride or calcium gluconate should be slowly injected intravenously for emergency rescue.
It is not absorbed orally. It can form a hyperosmolar state in the intestine, reduce the absorption of water, increase the volume of the intestine, cause accelerated intestinal peristalsis, and cause diarrhea. It is used for surgery or colonoscopy of the contents of the jejunum in the front row. Now, sodium sulfate is used to replace it, which is weaker and safer than magnesium sulfate. Use with caution during menstruation, pregnancy and the elderly.
Local external application can eliminate local edema.
