(1) The brucite asbestos produced in Sichuan Province is light green to colorless, the fibers are coarse and brittle, inelastic and flexible, easy to break and good splitting. Fine fibers are transparent, colorless, glassy, like man-made glass fibers.


(2) It is soluble in hydrochloric acid and does not foam.


(3) The blowing pipe does not melt under the flame, but shines when burned, and shows a weak alkaline reaction after burning. After burning, cobalt nitrate solution was added, and then burned to a light red color. Heated in closed tube fresh water, grey to brown, manganese varieties to dark brown.


(4) China is rich in serpentine resources, but due to the lack of in-depth geological work, there are few reports on brucite ore sites. The known ore sites are mainly as follows: Dandong, Liaoning, Xixia, Shaanxi, Ningqiang, etc. The development and utilization of Heimulin deposit in Ningqiang is early.


At present, brucite is mainly used as flame retardant material in Dandong area of Liaoning Province.
