Flame retardant can be divided into organic flame retardant and inorganic flame retardant. The main organic flame retardants are chlorine, bromine and phosphorus. Inorganic flame retardant has aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide and so on.
Organic flame retardants can be divided into halogen flame retardants and halogen-free flame retardants. The advantages of halogen flame retardants are low consumption, high flame retardant efficiency and wide adaptability, but their serious disadvantages are that a large number of smoke and toxic and corrosive gases are generated during combustion, which cause great harm. Halogen free flame retardant does not contain halogenated cord, has good flame retardant effect, and produces low smoke and low toxicity gas during thermal decomposition.
Inorganic flame retardants have high decomposition temperature, which not only has flame retardant effect, but also suppresses smoke and hydrogen chloride formation. Aluminum hydroxide is a flame retardant with three functions of flame retardant, smoke suppression and filling. It is non-toxic, non-corrosive, stable and does not produce toxic gas at high temperature. It is cheap and has a wide range of sources. Magnesium hydroxide decomposes between 340 ℃ and 490 ℃. It has good thermal stability, good flame retardant and smoke suppression effect, especially suitable for polyolefin plastics with high processing temperature.
