The differences between magnesium and magnesium oxide are as follows:
1. Different elements: magnesium is composed of magnesium, magnesium oxide is composed of magnesium and oxygen.
2. Composition is different: magnesium is made up of atoms, magnesium oxide is made up of ions.
3. Different colors: magnesium is silvery white, magnesium oxide is white.
4. Different chemical properties: magnesium reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce gas (hydrogen), while magnesium oxide reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce no gas.
The purpose of magnesium (mg) test is to measure the content of magnesium in blood. Magnesium is an important electrolyte for normal function of muscles, nerves and enzymes, which helps the body to consume energy and promote the outward migration and inward flow of other electrolytes (potassium and sodium) on both sides of cells
