What is high purity magnesium hydroxide?

The preparation methods of magnesium hydroxide include:


1. Physical crushing method


Physical comminution refers to the direct comminution of ore, through dry rough grinding and wet ultra-fine grinding, to produce magnesium hydroxide products with the required particle size grade. The commonly used ore is brucite.


2. Ore calcination hydration method


In this method, the ore is calcined and the prepared magnesium oxide is hydrated to prepare magnesium hydroxide, which is a process of magnesium oxide dissolution and magnesium hydroxide precipitation, in which the dissolution of magnesium oxide is the control step. Due to the different ore compositions, magnesite is more often used.


3. Liquid phase precipitation method


There are two sources of raw materials for this method. One is that magnesite, dolomite, serpentine, etc. are treated by acid hydrolysis or other methods to obtain magnesium salt, which is precipitated with alkali to prepare magnesium hydroxide. One is to precipitate magnesium salt obtained from seawater, salt lake water and well brine with alkali to prepare magnesium hydroxide.

High purity magnesium hydroxide is generally used for flame retardant, waste water treatment, flue gas desulfurization, fertilizer, etc. it can also be widely used in chemical industry, metallurgy, building materials, household appliances, plastics, rubber, electronics, ceramics, medicine, food and other industries.


Among them, the flame retardant industry has a large demand, and in the microwave absorbing material industry, because high-purity magnesium oxide has high activity and high dispersion, it can be easily combined with polymers or other materials. This composite material has good microwave absorption performance, and does not reduce the strength, toughness and other indicators of the raw material. Moreover, fibrous magnesium oxide has a reinforcing effect.

1. Antacids and permeable laxatives.


2. Magnesium hydroxide is an excellent flame retardant for plastic and rubber products. In terms of environmental protection, it can be used as flue gas desulfurizer and can replace caustic soda and lime as neutralizing agent for acid containing wastewater.


3. Magnesium hydroxide is a new type of filling flame retardant. It can reduce the surface temperature of the synthetic material it fills in the flame by releasing the binding water and absorbing a large amount of latent heat when it is heated and decomposed. It can inhibit the decomposition of polymer and cool the combustible gas generated.


4. It can be used as a flame retardant or a flame retardant filler. It can be added to polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinylidene ramie and ABS resins, and has good flame retardancy and smoke suppression.
